Team –

As you may have heard, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts recently announcement a number of directed health measures (DHM) related to elective or non-urgent procedures.

As we understand it right now, the latest DHM mandates the postponement of inpatient procedures that can be delayed 4-12 weeks without substantial change in outcome for the patient effective on Monday, August 30, 2021. After this date, any scheduled or potential cases will go to a medical review team for evaluation. Cases that require rescheduling or postponement will be communicated to the patient’s care team as soon as possible.

Additionally, OrthoNebraska will continue to do our part to help manage the current bed capacity constraints within the Metro. Across Omaha, staffed and ICU bed availability has become critical. We need to be extra vigilant of our patient risk factors as transferring a patient who experiences complications to a nearby hospital may come at an increased risk with limited availability.

Our leadership team is working swiftly to build operational plans around the above and will communicate accordingly. In the meantime, please continue to take extra precautions against the spread of COVID-19 and stay safe and healthy.

Thank you.
