[0:14] Host: We’re back on the field for the OrthoNebraska halftime show, and we’re talking with Jacob Martinez, a performance coach, about Lift Like a Girl. What is that all about?
[0:27] Jacob Martinez: Lift Like a Girl is a 10-week, women-only challenge geared toward breaking some of the stereotypes about women and strength training. The goal of the challenge is to help women reach their goals, but also to build a community and give them resources throughout those 10 weeks so they understand how strength training benefits them, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. In fact, one of my favorite things I’ve ever heard from a past participant is that it was way more fun to add weight to the bar than to drop pounds on the scale. That’s always stuck with me as a coach.
[1:05] Host: That’s great. How long has this been going on?
[1:07] Jacob Martinez: This is our fifth year of the program. We’ve built up some great testimonials over the years from women who’ve done the challenge and done things they didn’t always think they could. The program is built not just for women who’ve never lifted or picked up a barbell, but also for women who want to break through plateaus and reach new levels.
[1:33] Host: I can see the women coming up to the screen with their ears perked up. What do they have to do to sign up?
[1:38] Jacob Martinez: They can go to orthonebraska.com/challenge and fill out the form if they’re interested. If they have any hesitation or questions about what that first day looks like, they can fill out the form there, and I or one of our coaches will reach out and help them sign up.
[1:58] Host: Sounds good. You’re going to get a lot of ladies for year number six. We’re back on the halftime show right after this.
