“They go above and beyond and do everything they can to get me back out there.”
After golfing his whole life, professional player Scott Gutschewski has dealt with his fair share of injuries and overall wear and tear. With lifelong foot pain and recent Achilles and meniscus injuries, to name a few, he’s turned to his care team at OrthoNebraska to keep him in the game as long as possible. Thanks to a successful surgery with Dr. Thompson and his dedicated therapy team, Scott gets to keep doing what he loves.

My name is Scott Gutschewski. I played golf ever since I was a kid. Ended up going to Creighton for a year and then I transferred down to Lincoln and played three years down there, and when I used up my eligibility in ’99, I turned pro and just started playing the mini tours. A few injuries and four kids later, I’m 49 and kind of wrapping up the Korn Ferry PGA tour portion of my career and and trying to hold it together to uh, try to play on the Champions Tour a little bit hopefully.
I’ve had a couple injuries. You know, I remember having foot issues like all the way back to like being like a seven or eight year old kid. Most of them are just kind of wear and tear kind of genetic things.
It got much worse, and it got to the point where I could go out and play golf one day and then the next day I just, I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t walk well enough to play. I would say it definitely affected me professionally.
When you’re out there doing what you love to do and you feel like that door is closing before you want it to. It was tough.
Thankfully, Dr. Thompson helped. The first time I had to come in was for heel spurs. The Achilles tendon was so inflamed it didn’t get the blood flow.
And then just recently, I had a torn meniscus that got repaired. I had surgery six weeks ago, but I feel pretty good right now.
All the therapists I’ve ever seen have been great. They know I’m out golfing and, you know, a lot of them give me their cell phone numbers to reach out. They go above and beyond and and do everything they can to get me back out there to where I can have a chance to compete again.
