Dr. Todd Gaddie:

Dr. Todd Gaddie here to talk to you about pain on the pinky side of the wrist, or the ulnar side of the wrist.

When we think of hand and wrist pain in the hand surgery world, we think of the causes as either an injury or an insidious onset, or pain that develops during regular daily life.

The pain that we most commonly think of without an injury could be something like tendon irritation. Most commonly, it’s called your ECU tendon. That pain is over the bump on the outside of your wrist.

Other causes include injuries such as a fall, where you can tear a piece of cartilage on the inside of the wrist or fracture one of the bones in your wrist.

You can also fracture some of the small bones on the pinky side of your wrist.
