Team members are encouraged to stay up-to-date with the latest information regarding OrthoNebraska’s continued response to COVID-19.

Please note: As we continue to learn more about the spread of COVID-19 and as the situation locally changes, we ask for your continued cooperation and participation in adjusting to continue to keep our patients, providers and staff safe.

SCREENINGS

Patients & Visitors
All patients and visitors will be screened multiple times prior to and upon arrival to their appointment. Screening includes:

  • Any known contact with a COVID-19 positive individual in the last 14 days
  • Any travel by mass transit in the last 14 days
  • Common signs & symptoms of COVID-19, including: shortness of breath, fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, persistent cough, loss of taste, and/or loss or smell.
  • Temperatures taken upon arrival to a clinic

Employees & Providers
All employees and providers should continue to self-screen daily at home for common signs and symptoms of COVID-19. This includes shortness of breath, fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, persistent cough, loss of taste, and/or loss or smell. Additionally, all patient-facing employees and providers at any OrthoNebraska facility are required to have their temperature taken prior to reporting for work. If you are experiencing any signs or symptoms, please contact Employee Health Nurse Cathy Ertzner at (402) 609-1384.

MASKS

Patients & Visitors
All patients, and visitors must wear a face covering at all times while in any OrthoNebraska hospital facility. Tteam members (both hospital and clinic) who are unvaccinated must mask at all times and social distance while eating. Hospital team members must mask in patient care areas regardless of vaccination status.

Employees & Providers
All patient-facing employees and providers must wear a procedural mask, provided by OrthoNebraska, while at any OrthoNebraska facility. Proper care of the mask should be followed. Information on storing your mask, as well as a number of frequently asked questions and answers, can be found HERE.

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS

  • Signs will be located on chairs in waiting areas to encourage patients and visitors to follow proper social distancing guidelines. Where appropriate, chairs will be removed.
  • Patients in peri-operative areas will maintain proper social distancing guidelines, where appropriate.
  • Updated procedures for intubation/extubation of patients.
  • Updated medical requirements for patients receiving surgery.
  • Staff in peri-operative areas have undergone fit testing for N95 masks.

LABOR POOL

As a reminder, available staff must opt into the labor pool in order to receive gap pay. For salaried employees, we encourage you to participate in the labor pool – if able – to support the safety measures in place for the protection of our patients, staff and visitors. All employees participating in the labor pool will be provided proper personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes eye wear, masks and safety vests.

Labor pool roles consist of:

  • Screening checkpoints at the entrances of the Oakview campus (although there is shelter available, individuals should dress properly for the weather)
  • Assistance with the virtual waiting rooms

Shifts vary in length between 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday.

VISITOR POLICY

There are no visitor limitations in the clinic. In the hospital, we are limiting visitors to two healthy visitors (screened upon first entry) during our normal visitor hours. We understand there may be circumstances that require exceptions to our visitor policy.

WORK FROM HOME STATUS

No changes, unless directed otherwise by your manager.

COMPENSATION

The compensation strategy communicated on April 10, 2020 will remain in place for the time being. If you have any questions, please contact your manager or a member of the human resources team.

CHILDCARE

OrthoNebraska asks that employees continue to plan for childcare needs. A pool of resources is available for staff who may need childcare in the event of closures. A list of resources provided by your co-workers can be found HERE.

Please note: OrthoNebraska will not have the ability to fully vet these resources and will not assume any liability for the care provided. In addition, any arrangements of pay should be made between the childcare provider and the individual requiring childcare.

TRAVEL POLICY

OrthoNebraska is evaluating a change in the travel policy. Until then, the most recent restrictions can be found HERE.

OrthoNebraska will continue to send text alerts for information that is time sensitive or of critical importance to our team members. If you have not been receiving text updates, please email News@OrthoNebraska.com with the best number to be reached.
