Our Job Shadowing Program is designed to give you the opportunity to:
- Observe the daily routines of our extraordinary professionals as they perform their jobs
- Explore health care career options
- Increase awareness of the skill sets required
- Experience our health care culture
We Offer Job Shadowing in These Departments
- Advanced Practice Providers (PA, APRN)
- Physical or Occupational Therapists
What to Expect
During your job shadow experience, you will be paired with a healthcare professional to observe and interact with as they conduct their daily work. This is not a hands-on patient care experience. You may only observe and ask questions. If you are asked to do something, please kindly decline and thank the professional for the opportunity.
A job shadow experience is typically 2-8 hours in length. If you need documentation of having done a job shadow, bring your form with you on the day of your shadow so that the person you’re shadowing may sign it at the end of your time with them.
Please remember that even though you are a guest during your shadowing experience you are still representing OrthoNebraska during your time here. Please be prompt on your arrival. We ask that you dress business casual and refrain from using your cell phone during your experience unless on a break.
- DPT/TDaP (Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus)
- Hepatitis B
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- Influenza (Flu Shot)
- COVID-19 (strongly preferred)
We strongly prefer you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in the Job Shadow Program. Fully vaccinated is defined as one dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen or two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna. Boosters are STRONGLY PREFERRED. For more information on Covid-19 vaccines, visit the CDC website. If you are not vaccinated against COVID-19, please provide a declination form and reason.
Working in a hospital requires healthcare workers to be current on many vaccinations. Immunizations are required for the protection of the healthcare worker, as well as for the protection of patients. As you proceed with a career in healthcare, it will be important to keep a file of your immunization records. Schools and healthcare employers will require this information. All job shadowing students on our hospital campus will be required to complete paperwork attesting to the current status of the required immunizations.
To be eligible for a Job Shadow experience, you must complete the following:
- Job Shadow Application
- Documentation of your Covid-19 Vaccination
- A signed Agreement and Release Form AND HIPAA and Code of Conduct Form
- Completed Quiz
Once all requirements are complete, your availability will be reviewed by a scheduler. If OrthoNebraska has availability that matches yours, the scheduler will contact you.
