OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Athletics has announced a new comprehensive medical partnership with a robust local provider, which will allow Maverick student-athletes to benefit from premier care.
OrthoNebraska, the state’s first and largest healthcare provider dedicated to the complete care and treatment of orthopedic patients, has been named as the Official Team Physicians of Omaha Athletics. OrthoNebraska is now the exclusive provider of sports medicine services for the Mavericks.
“The well-being and medical care of our student-athletes will always be our top priority,” said Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell. “Today is a significant move toward that goal and in the history of Omaha Athletics, as we enter a comprehensive partnership with one of the nation’s top healthcare providers to benefit Maverick student-athletes.”
This new multi-year partnership will provide coverage of all Maverick student-athletes that participate in our 16 sponsored sports. OrthoNebraska’s brand will be visible at all Omaha Athletics events and facilities.
“OrthoNebraska is excited about the opportunity to provide streamlined access to our high standard for patient care to Maverick student-athletes,” said Chief Executive Officer Levi Scheppers. “We have a longstanding reputation for providing unmatched sports medicine services to the community. This is an amazing opportunity build upon that with elite student-athletes and continue to ensure they have the level of care provided to excel in their respective playing field.”
“As a former UNO athlete and now as an Orthopedic Surgeon,” states Dr. Kirk Hutton, Orthopedic Surgeon at OrthoNebraska, “I know firsthand how critical it is that these student-athletes get the care they deserve to perform throughout their career and beyond. That’s more than just a diagnosis and treatment, but really being a partner for the prevention of injury and rehab. I am excited to be a part of that journey again.”
Omaha student-athletes will see an increase in the level of support they receive with the addition of this partnership. OrthoNebraska will provide access to its network of sports health physicians, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, and primary care providers.
