Suffering from years of discomfort in her back, shoulders and neck, Jan Duren’s daily routine was being heavily interrupted by pain, and she knew it was time to visit OrthoNebraska. After she came in and learned her options, Jan and her care team decided that the best path to healing included surgery. Now, Jan is enjoying many of the activities that she had to sit out of when she was in pain. After surgery and physical therapy, she feels stronger and ready to get back to her old self again.

My name is Jan Duren. I’ve had decades of poor posture. I’d always slouch forward. That caused a lot of problems in my back, my shoulders, my neck.
I found that when I’d tip my head back, my fingertips would go numb.
Oh, my daily activities were very limited. My quality of life had gone down quite a bit, I feel. And so, it was time to go back and see Dr. Porter again.
This time it was the condition of my neck um along with the osteoporosis that I have in my neck had deteriorated so that it required surgery.
Some of those old aches and pains aren’t there. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night in agony. I’m feeling more confident in going up and down the stairs. I I just feel stronger already given the therapy, physical therapy I had prior and then this surgery.
I really feel that within the next month or so, I’m going to be back to enjoying some of those activities I used to participate in. I think it’s definitely going to be helping my quality of life.
