I stay busy every day. Just a very busy, earthy type person. We garden quite large, so we can our own produce. I am quite physical with the gardening and all.

I used an electric pruner. I did think the safety was on, and I just, I just knew I nicked my finger, but when I looked down, my finger was laying over.

My brother-in-law had an incident many years ago. He came here and he said if you ever have anything like that all these years, he said this, “go to OrthoNebraska, don’t go anywhere else.”

Within 3 hours I was in surgery. Dr. Lesiak came down and looked at it, and he was like — well, I mean, he was so calm. He was like, okay so here’s what we’re going to do.

He had to put cadaver nerves in there and completely rebuild everything.

You know you use your finger constantly. Things I don’t think about like carrying your grocery bags, and this and that, and I still have my finger.

I cannot even believe the miracle he worked here. Everything’s intact. I can use it. I mean, what else is there? You know, now we’re strengthening, trying to get things back to everyday normal.

They do truly make you feel valuable and special. They really do. Like you’re the only patient they have.
